Bilgere’s poems were a regular feature on Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac and U.S. Poet Laureate (2004–2006) Ted Kooser’s newspaper project “American Life in Poetry.”

He has received grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pushcart Foundation, the Witter Bynner Foundation through the Library of Congress, and the Fulbright Foundation. George is a 2014 Creative Workforce Fellow in Literature, a grant funded through Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

George also hosts a weekly radio show, WORDPLAY, an offbeat mix of poetry, comedy, and an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of the spoken word.
